Our Story
The Dairy Miersma Farm originated by Harry and Dorothy Miersma in Artesia, CA. With the help of their sons, the Miersma family dairy grew to various locations throughout California and Texas. The eldest son, Harlan Miersma, and wife, Greta, continued to dairy farm in Chino, California where their son, Harlan Miersma Jr. and wife, Hillary joined the family farm in 2001. In 2014, Harlan Miersma Jr. and family relocated to the beautiful countryside in Salem, Oregon.
Harlan Miersma Jr
Harlan Miersma was born and raised in Southern California on the family dairy. The dairy farm was right outside his doorstep and he had the opportunity to see the daily operations, as well as see by example and hear by conversation all that was required to be a dairy farmer.
He understood that dairy farming was demanding - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually He attended Central College in Iowa, where he majored in Computer Programming, Ultimately, his passion for the family dairy farm prevailed. With the 24 hour responsibility and care required of dairy farming, he embraced the calling. However, over the years, the value, scrutiny, and appreciation for dairy farms has wavered, and through this website, he hopes to share a positive example, as well as provide an opportunity to support dairy and ALL farmers for the sacrifices they make for all of humanity.

Hillary Miersma
Hillary Miersma is a Midwest girl, born and raised in Illinois. She attended Trinity Christian College, majoring in Elementary & Art Education, and Studio Art. Upon meeting, then marrying Harlan, shortly after the two joined the family dairy farm. Hillary had no upbringing around the dairy farm, but quickly learned. Currently, Hillary serves as the farm wife, farm secretary, farm runner, and more.
In the years of serving on the family dairy farm and love for education, Hillary has organized field trips and helped with Agriculture Science lessons and education plans, and as a direct result through the website, her hopes and dreams are to share life on the farm, as well as educate viewers. The website also serves as a means to share the creative side of the entire Miersma family. With the creative minds and helping hands of the Miersma kids, they have created some fun, bold, patriotic, dairy and farm supporting items. Haley Miersma
Haley Miersma is the creator of the website made it to promote our dairy farm as well as to fulfill her goal of making her senior project. She always loved being at a computer and being able to design, being able to make a website was very fun for her because it mixes the two things she loves. Her goal with this site is to spread knowledge and understanding of Miersma Dairy and farm life overall.
